History of soya sowing in Ukraine

First experimental sowings were held in Kherson region and Tavriya provinces in 1877, and the first domestic soya variety Amurska the yellow was bred in 1923 and cultivated till 1934. In 1926 soya areas took 500 ha, but the accounting of yield and croppage are fixed only starting of 1965 – there were sown 3 thousands ha and harvest 1700 tons at yield 5.6 c/ha.

Although academic institutions conducted selection work and domestic varieties have been bred, but by 1985 acreage did not exceed 75 - 90 thousand ha. Since 2003, when the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences listened to the demands of public organizations on creating a profile association began active development of industry prizes to the soya sowing in Ukraine.
